Aromuz
is a cooperative society founded in 1997 and located in Rincón
de Ademuz, a mountainous area belonging to the region of Valencia.
At a height above the sea level and comprised between 700 and 1,100 metres,
it grows aromatic, medicinal and condimental plants, as well as fruits
(mainly apples), almonds and cereals.
|
|
|
|
|
Therefore,
the main activity of the Cooperative turns around the production and elaboration
of such aromatic, medicinal and condimental plants and the resulting essential
oils extracted from these plants. This cultivation, as well as the elaboration
of essential oils, are accomplished following the measures of organic
production and elaboration established by the European Union.

At present
Aromuz owns a vapour drive distiller, natural and hot air dryers, apart
from machinery for the cultivation and processing of the plants.

The
Cooperative raises over 200 hectares of dry land, and 10 hectares
of irrigated land.
As a result, at the moment we are cultivating thyme, fennel and
lavender crops, as well as some experimental plots of land raising
plants of several species that had never before been cultivated
in the area, as is the case of aniseed, coriander, cumin, caraway,
dill, melissa, lavender, basil, wild marjoram, etc.
|
|
In
its turn we also undertake harvestings of the wild species that
grow indigenously in the area, such as thyme, rosemary, lavender,
fennel, etc. To this end we have been assigned the stewardship of
these plants by the Environmental Council for 5 years in an area
covering over 9,500 hectares.

The
produce of the Cooperative is being commercialised through the trademark
ECOAROMUZ, which in its turn is distributed by the Limited
Company AGROBLAINPA, S.L., which offers the produce both,
either packed in assorted sizes, or in bulk.
|
|
The
use of machinery in the treatment of the plants is merely reduced
to those stages of the process where the quality and aspect of the
plants do not suffer any kind of damage.
|
|
|
|
Moreover, the processing and packaging of the produce is developed
in an artisanal way, so that the herbs are kept intact all along
the process until the final stage. This artisanal separation of
the leaves and the packaging of the produce locate the trademark
of Ecoaromuz within a high quality standard.
